I stayed at El Chante for a week in December and it was above all expectations! I travelled solo, but the place is also perfect for couples, friends and families. The owner, Fernando, and his family ensures that every guest feels warmly welcomed and taken care of. The rooms are clean, big and very nice. There is AC, warm water, cleaning on a regular basic, well equipped kitchen, and wonderful breakfast included. It was also possible to rent surf boards to a fair price. The house is within 5 min walking distance to the beach, Playa Hermosa. As a bonus, the path takes you through beautiful nature where you can see monkeys and raccoons in the trees.

I traveled solo and felt very safe and taken care of by the owner and staff.

El Chante is easily the best place to stay in the Playa Hermosa Santa Teresa area. Truly a hidden gem and deserves every positive review it has. The property and rooms are perfectly maintained and relaxing. The owner Fernando and his amazing staff, family, and friends are incredible at making you feel at home and part of the local community. I've traveled many places across the world and I count this as my most special stay to date. If you want an authentic experience, be a 5 min walk from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, have access to incredible surf lessons, and enjoy supporting Costa Rican owned and operated businesses...this is the spot for you. Our stay at El Chante couldn’t have been better. Our room was comfortable and clean, the common areas (including the shared kitchen) were great, and the vibe from staff and guests was friendly and welcoming.

We loved being able to walk to the beach, plus local restaurants and cafes, in just a few minutes from the house. We rented surf boards throughout our stay and took a great lesson as well.

Fernando is an incredible host. He had tons of tips about great spots to eat and explore, and made sure our stay exceeded our expectations. Would 100 percent recommend El Chante!

A little gem of a hotel in the middle of Playa Hermosa.

This place is not for people who are looking for the latest and greatest, its vibe is chill, slow, and full of people who make you feel like part of the community.

Playa Hermosa is not as developed as Playa El Carmen or Playa Santa Teresa, so it feels like a little haven outside of those crowded beach towns.

Fernando runs the place, and he does it very well. He provides surf lessons and board rentals on-site.

If you are looking for a fun, quiet place where you can chill by the pool, have a nice beach around 150 meters away, and enjoy a peaceful stay without the crowds, this is your place.

Really nice place to stay, lovely staff, location is pretty good, excellent surf instructors, really nice vibe with all the guests...
